Emission Standards

The emission standards are intended to reduce the levels of unintended emissions from electrical and electronic products to an acceptable level. The product family standards have been introduced on a voluntary basis at the beginning of 1996 and were made mandatory on 1  January 1997. The enforcement of the generic emission standard commenced from 1 July 1997. A comparison between the Australian and New Zealand standards and their international or European equivalents is given in table1.
